Kompakt, a category of its own. In electronic music terms, it's hard to think of many other German labels that have survived for so long. Running for steady 25 years now, it was founded in 1993 by Wolfgang Voigt, Jürgen Paape, Reinhard Voigt and Michael Mayer. During that time, Kompakt evolved from experimental house and early minimal techno to all kinds of dance music, into a cohesive but widespread hub of distribution, booking, publishing and music management.

Much-acclaimed and highly distinct artists like The Field, Kölsch, Superpitcher, Matias Aguayo, Justus Köhncke, COMA, Gui Boratto, Kaito, Walls or Saschienne have shaped their careers via this iconic imprint. The complete story is surely much more complicated than that, but Wolfgang always says it best: “Forward ever, backwards never."

Over the course of the last two plus decades, the German born DJ, musician and composer Marc Romboy has become synonymous with a soulful electronic music sound that has taken him all over the world. As well as releasing on only the most influential labels, from Innervisions to Ovum and Kompakt to 20:20 Vision, he is also the sole mastermind behind the influential Systematic Recordings label and has been since 2004. Proof of his value comes in the form of his DJ schedule, which takes him from Fabric to Womb and Berghain to Watergate, as well as to not one but three separate Boiler Room shows.

After establishing his unique musical vision on iconic underground imprints like BPitch Control or Kompakt, Sascha Funke has returned to the latter for his more recent efforts with Saschienne, a project he put forth with partner in crime Julienne Dessagne - resulting in 2012’s album „Unknown“, a master class in sparse, but highly effective techno songwriting. As well he released on Tiga’s Canadian label Turbo Recordings the EP “IFA” and delivered four enchanting tracks between bewitched minimal tribal, twisted piano house, stomping psychedelic and space techno. And there is also a new solo album in the pipeline. It will be called “Lotos Land”, will see the light of the day on the Japanese label Endless Flight.

Thomas Fehlmann, a true musical legend, to some better known as the founder of legendary 3MB with the inclusion of Juan Atkins, Eddie Fowlkes or Blake Baxter respectively. Cementing the Berlin-Detroit connection, which he explains is "very much a non-verbal affair", all about "knocking off some fresh ideas, direct and driven by the magic of that special connection Berliners and Detroiters seem to feel”.

Parallel to it all, this Berlin-based artist got to meet Alex Paterson, mastermind of The Orb project. Another creative step was taken and the collaboration between Paterson and Fehlmann would last for over twenty seven years, no less - participating in elaborating a crucial chapter in the history of electronic music.

Yet, aside from these well-known collaborative endeavors, never did Thomas stop working on his own, releasing seven solo albums including his latest for Kompakt, 'Los Lagos', between 1991 and 2018.
