Novi film redateljice i koscenaristice Vlatke Vorkapić, koju svi dobro pamtimo po velikom kino hitu “Sonja i bik”.

Kad tradicija vlada, tajne cvjetaju – tako se ukratko može opisati „Sveta obitelj“, gdje pratimo priču obitelji koja svoje tajne vješto čuva služeći se religioznošću, tradicijom i imetkom.

Radnja je smještena u fiktivnom slavonskom selu 60-ih godina 20. stoljeća, gdje urbani utjecaji slabo prodiru, a pridržavanje starih običaja imperativ je ovoj ruralnoj zajednici. U središtu pozornosti je imućna obitelj gazde Marka, koja svoju disfunkcionalnost sakriva bogatstvom, religioznošću te njegovanjem tradicije pod svaku cijenu. Sve navedeno služi kao paravan i fasada kako bi se sakrila strogo čuvana obiteljska tajna. Gazda Marko, koji kao „pater familias“ u potpunosti kontrolira obitelj, isprosi ruku siromašne nadničarke Janje za svoga sina Ivu. Mladoj Janji se ta ponuda učini kao ostvarenje njezinih snova.
