Pinokio je temeljen na jednoj od najpoznatijih bajki na svijetu. Već desetljećima generacije djece iz različitih zemalja odrastaju uz čarobnu priču o drvenom lutku, prateći njegove avanture i svjedočeći njegovoj čudesnoj transformaciji u pravog čovjeka. Mladi Pinokio, kojeg je oživio briljantni drvodjelac Maestro Geppetto, bježi iz majstorove kuće, željan upoznati svijet. Nailazi na putujući cirkus pod vodstvom lukavog Modjafocca. On pretvara Pinokija, lutka koji govori, u glavnu atrakciju svojih predstava i puni dvorane u svakom gradu, dok njegovi pomoćnici, mačak i lisica, pljačkaju kuće posjetitelja. Pinokio o tome nema pojma. U međuvremenu, zaljubljuje se u Bellu, gimnastičarku i Modjafoccovu pokćerku. No ne može očekivati da mu uzvrati ljubav jer je samo lutak, a ne pravi dječak. Klaun iz cirkusa daje Pinokiju vrijedan savjet: potraži pomoć vještice Lucilde. Hoće li Pinokio uspjeti postati čovjek i osvojiti ljubav svog života?
