Film govori o pustolovini mačka Vincenta i miša Mauricea koji su se od poplave koja je pogodila njihov dom sklonili u stari klavir i završili u muzeju.

Priča počinje poplavom u dvorcu na otoku gdje živi pitomi mačak po imenu Vincent. Kad dvorac poplavi, Vincenta spašava pametni miš Maurice, mali glodavac koji živi na otoku. Miš Maurice i mačak Vincent skrivaju se u prastarom i starom klaviru kojeg je zbog poplave odnijelo more. Antikni klavir koji plovi strujom u moru pronalazi skupina mornara i dostavlja ga u muzej.
