Još 2012. veliki Coldplay predstavio ga je veliki svjetski potencijal, a ta su se predviđanja i ostvarila. J.R. August je već svojim prvim album osvojio publiku i kritiku koja ga je nazvala glazbenikom svjetskog kalibra.

Već u tjednu nakon objave debi album Dangerous Waters bio je najprodavaniji u državi – prvi put u povijesti da je album domaćeg izvođača koji pjeva na engleskom jeziku zauzeo to mjesto. Dangerous Waters je na većini kritičarskih top-lista proglašen albumom godine,

No priznanja ovom posebnom talentu dosegnula su vrhunac na dodjeli Porina 2020. godine kad je J.R. August osvojio nagrade u čak tri kategorije: za alternativni album, za najboljeg novog izvođača i za album godine. Iste je godine slavio i na dodjeli Rock&Off nagrada, a bio je nominiran i za Impalu, europsku nagradu za indie album. Posljednje dvije godine uslijedile su nove nagrade i nominacije, kako za live album, tako i za drugi studijski – Still Waters.

J.R. August zasvirat će nakon dugo vremena u Zagrebu 19. listopada sa svojim deveteročlanim bendom, a na repertoaru će se naći pjesme s prva dva albuma, kao i ekskluzivno još neobjavljeni materijali s trećeg albuma koji je u pripremi.
